Dear Customer,
Network upgrade
At BT, we’re committed to providing the highest quality broadband service that we can for all of our broadband customers. As part of this commitment, we’re upgrading the BT network in your area and we’re writing to let you know how you’ll be affected. Your terms and conditions and current contract term won’t change as a result of this upgrade.
The planned date for the upgrade of your broadband and telephone line is 03-Feb-10.
On your upgrade day
Your upgrade should be completed by 6pm on your upgrade day but there’s a small chance that it will happen later in the evening. If we can’t upgrade your line on the planned date, we’ll let you know.
During the upgrade, you’ll lose your broadband and telephone service for a very short time – no more than ten minutes. This means that you won’t be able to make or receive calls on your phone line during this time, including urgent calls such as calls to 999. We suggest you keep a mobile phone handy if you have one.
You also won’t be able to use your broadband during this short time so, if you’re working online on the day your line is upgraded, please remember to back up your data periodically.
After your upgrade
Once your upgrade is complete, your telephone and broadband services should restart automatically – so you may not even notice any loss of service. If you do have any connection problems, please restart your BT Hub or router by pressing the ‘Restart’ or ‘On/Off’ button.
Your line needs time to settle down
For the first ten days or so after your upgrade, your broadband might slow down or occasionally stop for short periods. That’s normal and your speed will soon settle down. You can help it along by leaving your Home Hub on all the time and using your broadband as much as you can for the first ten days.
BT Vision
BT Vision will also be affected during the upgrade. If you’re watching an ‘On Demand’ programme, this will be interrupted with an on-screen VO4 error message.
Any recordings you’ve already saved or scheduled will be fine to view but you won’t be able to set up additional recordings.
The upgrade is scheduled to last approximately ten minutes and your service should resume automatically. If you still experience VO4 errors, please restart your BT Vision box by holding down the power button on the front of your box for six seconds.
Please note that other services that are connected over your telephone and broadband line may also be affected.
Please go to www.bt.com/help/networkupgrade before the date of your network upgrade for more information.
We’ll let you know by email when the upgrade has been completed.
What do I do now?
